Local Yield Mapping at TUM-Weihenstephan 1990 to 2000

In 1990 local yield measurement with serial-production combine harvesters equipped with yield sensors and Global Positioning Sensors (GPS) took place for the first time and continued for the entire decade. In the joint research programs FAM (Forschungsverbund Agrarökosystem München | Research Association Agricultural Eco Systems) from 1990 to 2000 and IKB (Informationssystem Kleinräumige Bestandsführung Dürnast | Information System Small Scale Crop Husbandry) from 1999 to 2005 geo referenced yield measurement covered a wide range of combinable crops. In 1993 geo referenced yield measurement was extended to a self-propelled forage harvester in silage maize (SM) followed later by yield measurement in a trailed potato harvester (PT) and finally by test investigations in a trailed mower conditioner with swathing belt on grassland (GR). After harvest six different types of maps have been derived from yield sensor data together with GPS positioning data using ArcInfo®.
